First, I selected the Land category and poured a base layer of Sand. It quickly piled up with natural gravity. Next, I layered some ClaySoil and Dirt right on top of it. The materials stacked realistically without clipping.

Then, I wanted to see how the game handles weather. I selected Snow and showered it over my newly created mountain. Immediately, the UI in the bottom right updated. It showed a real-time ambient temperature of -5C. The snow stayed frozen because the environment was cold enough. If you blast that same hill with the Heat tool, the snow melts into flowing water, which then dynamic pools at the bottom. The emergent gameplay is incredibly satisfying.

If you want to move past basic dirt piles, the interaction system offers endless fun. Here are a few cool things I discovered during my gameplay:

• The Volcanic Eruption: Build a mountain out of Rock. Fill the inside with Lava from the liquids tab. Watch it melt through weak barriers.
• The Electric Grid: Use wires from the Machines tab. Add Flash or Shock tools to see electricity travel visually across the screen.
• The Living Forest: Plant seeds and add water. Watch life spread naturally across your canvas until you decide to introduce fire.
